Professional Coaching for Parents and Teens
Loving the Teenage Years??? - Workshop
What is the first word that comes to mind when you hear the word teenager?
‘Selfish, moody, idealistic, unpredictable, funny, lethargic, psychotic, irresponsible, surly, angry’ are some of the words the have been used to describe teenagers.
What are some of the issues and decisions of teenagers?
‘Types of friends they want, kind of friend they want to be, sexual relations, sexuality, alcohol and drugs, importance of school and grades, economic worries and relationship to family are a few that have been stated.
As the book “Uncommon sense for Parents with Teenagers” says, “Anybody in that condition (words to describe teenagers) shouldn’t be making those decisions”!
But reality is that teenagers are in the conditions above and they are facing these and many more issues and so they are making these decisions!!
As parents, we need to recognize this and understand how we can best support them and in what role.
We need to shift from a managerial role to a consultant role -how do we do this? And what do teens really need?
Teens need to have tools to handle stress and know how to balance their busy lives. They need to be able to feel confident about living up to their own expectations and not those of others.
They need to gain self-confidence and self-esteem. They need to be able to make informed choices and to be responsible for their actions and their consequences. They need to have the confidence and courage to express what they feel without the fear of being judged, not respected or listened to. They need support. And remember that parents need this too!!
At Trilogie Teens we offer individual coaching programmes that offer parents and teens the tools to learn how to better communicate, cope with life’s stresses and live lives of ‘confidence, courage and compassion.’ We also offer small group workshops that give parents the skill-set to coach their teens in a respectful, honouring and effective way.
Our Head coach, Lise Angus is a mother of 3 teens ranging in age from 12 ½ (the half is VERY important!) to 18 and so she is constantly in the thick of the training ring! She is a graduate of Australia’s leading 2-year coaching diploma course from Nature Care College and is a qualified practitioner in THE PARENT AS COACH APPROACH, as developed by Diana Haskins from the Parent as Coach Academy.
Lise is passionate about making a difference in the lives of parents and teens.
